Flashback: Let Go

Boston was the first series I intentionally wrote as a series. I actually planned the characters and a little of their stories first, but I’m kind of a pantser/plotter combo pack, so I still like to leave things open when I write to let my creativity take over when I want.

With Let Go, I knew I wanted to write a sassier book. It was more enemies-to-lovers with a rich girl/poor girl thrown in. I also had no intention of tying it to any of my other series, but when I was writing it, an idea came to mind. Character-wise, Chicago is connected to San Francisco through Emma, and Tahoe is connected to San Francisco through Kellan. Since I didn’t have any characters from Tahoe I wanted to write about at that point, I decided I could bring Macon over and connect the series through the music and the school Macon attended that Amanda is attending in Let Go. This way, readers would get a glimpse of Macon and Joanna long after their book and the post-epilogue, and there would at least be a small thread connecting all of the series together.

If I ever write another location-based series, I guess I’ll have to find a way to make mentions of some of these characters, maybe. :)
